ChatGPT

OpenAI is planning to ship an update to ChatGPT that will turn on the new o3 Pro model, which has more compute to think harder.

ChatGPT currently offers o4-mini, o4-mini-high, GPT-4.5, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1-mini, and o3 for $20 Plus subscribers.

ChatGPT $200 Pro subscription has all of those plus an o1 Pro model, which offers more compute to think harder.

o1 Pro is powerful, but feels outdated since we have a better o3 model in the lineup. However, this could change soon with the o3 Pro model.

As hinted at an event in New Delhi, OpenAI will soon swap out o1 Pro for o3 Pro, giving Pro users more power to solve tough problems.

While o3 already outperforms o1 on benchmarks, o1 Pro provides extra compute for improved reliability on harder tasks.

Previously, o1 Pro outperformed both o1-preview and o1 on tougher benchmarks, including math contests, coding challenges, and PhD-level science questions.

o3 Pro is expected to combine o3’s stronger baseline reasoning with those reliability gains. It will increase the thinking capabilities of the existing o3 model and allow Pro users to do more.

OpenAI could announce o3 Pro for $200 Pro subscribers as early as next week or later this month.
