Why does chome require cookies to download the application ?

I tried to download Chrome from https://www.google.com/chrome/, with cookies disabled and it would not download. What would make Chrome need cookies just to download ?

I'm not sure why Chrome wants cookies enable but again your talking about Google. See if you can download the offline installer without cookies enabled.

As Pkshadow stated, more info. But how is Google's chrome using this information?

Most likely users are downloading from another browser and by using a cookie they could determining what browser and your location information. This could be problematic as when you download chrome they have no method of validating the download such as a SHA256 hash. Chrome could potentially provide a specific version of chrome for specific downloads.

I tried to download Chrome......... with cookies disabled and it would not download.

I tested this in Edge, and couldn't download Chrome either. Clicking the "Download Chrome" button does nothing at all.

Google needs to see first that you've accepted the terms and conditions and that consent is stored in a cookie. Those cookies also store your operating system version and other information required for the download to start and complete successfully.

Standalone (offline installer) versions of Chrome are available from various sources but proceed with caution if you decide not to use Google's way of installing Chrome.

Then explain why I could download chrome with cookies completely blocked? I did it across multiple operating systems. I even created new accounts to test this out on and guess what I could do it.
